The Business Club has been formed in response to a growing interest amongst the WBGS and Old Fullerian community to connect in a business capacity with former form-mates and those from different generations from the School, to exchange ideas and build a network of contacts.
We have now run three very successful and well attended Business Club dinners at the RAC on Pall Mall with 25, 22 and 24 attendees respectively on the July 23, November 23 and July 24 dates.
The format has been based around guest speakers (Edward Stringer RAF in July 23 and Nicola Burnside Alpine Cars in November 23) who as senior leaders spoke about their industry sectors and their areas of interest, and provoked thought and debate.
July 24 featured Guest Speaker Matt Bird. Matt who has spoken in 50 countries to more than a million people, is a frequent broadcaster, has authored 20 books, and has written for publications such as The Times newspaper. He is a serial business and social entrepreneur with numerous entrepreneurial failures and successes to his name. For vanity’s sake, we will only name a few of the latter: Relationology, NAYBA, PublishU, and The Rooftop.
November’s dinner again held at the RAC, was a roaring success with a full table of 24 OFs and guests in attendance. Rob Lynch, Director of Cricket & Operations at the MCC and Guest Speaker for the evening, gave a brilliant talk on his career journey to date, the challenges facing the modern game of cricket, and the inside track on cricket’s biggest personalities.
The next OFA Business Club Dinner will take place in Spring 2025 where we hope more OFs can join us. If you’d like to be notified as soon as spots are available, please send an email to businessclub@oldfullerians.org.uk to be added to the distribution list.
